Fire Fighter Level II - Written and Practical Challenge Test - May 10, 2008
This is the written and practical challenge test for The Pennsylvania Voluntary Certification Program accredited by the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications. Successful completion of a certification level permits you to apply to the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications for national certification and registry.
The Fire Fighter I or II written test is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications 2002 Edition. The passing grade for the written test is 70 percent. The written and skills test are based on information that can be found in the IFSTA (International Fire Service Training Association) Essentials of Fire Fighting, 4th Edition.
The practical, hands-on skill testing for Fire Fighting I will have 12 skill stations that must all be successfully passed. Fire Fighter II will have 5 skill stations that must all be passed. You must successfully complete both the written and practical tests to be certified. You must be certified as a Fire Fighter I before making application to challenge Fire Fighter II.

The practical, hands-on skill testing for Instructor I will have 3 skill stations that must all be passed.

The Hazardous Materials Awareness written test is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 472 Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, 1997 Edition. The passing grade for the written test is 70 percent. There is NO hands-on skills testing at the Awareness Level.
The Hazardous Materials Operations and Technician written test is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 472 Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, 1997 Edition. The passing grade for the written test is 70 percent. The written and skills test are based on information that can be found in the following: Hazardous Materials Operation Annual Refresher Student Manual, P.S.F.A.; Initial Response to Hazardous Materials Incidents Course, N.F.A.; Hazardous Materials Managing the Incident by Noll, Hildebrand and Yvorra from Fire Protection Publications, Oklahoma State University; NFPA 472 1997 edition; Hazardous Materials Training for First Responders IAFF Copyright 2000.

The practical, hands-on skill testing for Pumper Driver-Operator will have 6 skill stations that must all be successfully passed.
